CFU is an abbreviation for colony forming unit.  This is basically the measurement for how many viable healthy bacteria are present in your supplement. This relates specifically to the number of bacteria which have the ability to multiply.
 
When your probiotics supplement states that it contains 10 billion CFU, it contains 10 billion healthy probiotics bacteria per serving, provided it still contains the amount stated.
